Coffee Filters

More Reusable Coffee Filters were made & shipped out today.  Things come & go from my shop - most of them are not even sold on line - they are sold to friends & people I meet locally!  Oh well, doesn't matter how you sell it, right?!! 

I love the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle concept.  Although it's just a little part, it feels so good.

Bye Bye, Lavender

The close of the summer season marks the end of my Lavender plants in bloom.  I made some more little purple clutches to celebrate the coming end of the season.  They measure about 7 1/4" wide & will be perfect for those little trips to the store or for my daughter's many trinkets!  This project also uses up some of my 'not-so-used' felts, fabrics, interfacing & buttons!  Don't you love using those little scraps & pieces that hang around just waiting for a new project to give them meaning & purpose...?!

Lavender Felt 'Fold Over Clutch' (Wristlet)

 It's Freebie Friday again!  This month I am excited to offer a handmade Fold Over Clutch with Wristlet Strap.

We have a Lavender Garden on our property & I marvel at how much fun it provides our family each year.  Together we take care of the plants, harvest & dry the flowers, cook with & create projects around this amazing plant.  In celebration of that, I have used a light lavender wool blend felt & lavender themed cotton fabric for this little clutch with a simple button closure.  This pouch is a great size to hold your cell phone, money & keys as you run into the store; or to keep your make up organized in your purse!  Enjoy.

Felt & Fabric Friday

There are many other things I should be doing today, but I'm sewing felt (what else is new?)!  This is a different take on the fabric clutch I made a few weeks ago.  There is always a way to put felt into a project around here! 

This clutch feels durable because of the wool felt used for the body.  I lined it with a simple cream duck fabric & added a little bit of cotton floral for the flap & wristlett strap.  So simple & quick. It’s soft to touch and hold.  I’m thrilled with this – the colors are perfect for spring.  Not sure if I will give in & let my daughter have it or keep it to use as an errand purse or maybe a cosmetic bag inside my big purse or tote bag...?  I think i'm going to try & use some of our recycled jean fabric & make one for my 13 year old who has everything!

Fabric Wristlet Clutch

This has been a project on my list for the longest time.  A gift for my mother became the perfect excuse to take the time to work on it.  Oh my, how lovely (now I have to make one for my daughter & myself!).  I found so many free tutorials out there for these clutch purses – I think I’ll try more than one.  I did purchase a pattern from ww.keykalou.etsy.com that was fabulous to work with.

I used a simple cotton outer fabric that I had laying around & an unbleached cotton fabric for the lining.  A vintage button from my grandmothers button box finishes this project just perfectly!  Don’t wait for a holiday or gift giving time to make one of these little clutches….you will just love it.  I hope you enjoy this cutie.



Scrappy Bookmark Project

The kids and I got to making stuff with our scrap box yesterday.  Thought you'd like to see what we came up with - 'Scrappy Bookmarks' - what a fun project!  What a fabulous idea for making little gifts or usable items out of the things that are so easily discarded.  We backed all of these bookmarks with wool felt for durability.  These will be great holding our place in our school books & bibles and great gift ideas for Easter baskets this year.  It was a fun time with the cutter matt, rotary tool, ruler, iron, sewing machine, ribbon box, & scrap fabric bin....!...Imagine the mess that was left in the path of this project!!!  We looked on the internet for some fabric scrap ideas and found quite a few sites that had tutorials for bookmarks.  I think we ended up putting our own spin on these with our technique and size.  Check out this site for a sweeet bookmark tutorial: http://scrapdaily.blogspot.com/2009/06/how-to-make-fabric-bookmark.html.  Make things that are reusable today!

Studio Supplies!

My husband has made sure that I have a fun little studio space to work in.  I just love sitting in my quiet space working on projects for family, friends & customers.  Every once in a while, I pick up or order new supplies & get inspired by their colors.  Then comes the question - What should I make?  This is always where things get 'fuzzy' - with so many fun, colorful items on the shelf, what can I possibly create!  There is fabric, felt, buttons, ribbons, ricrac, cut out shapes, twine, thread, stuffing.  Whether it turns out to be something for the kids, gifts for friends or projects for customers, how much more fun could a girl possibly have?!

Natural, Reusable Coffee Filters!

This is one of those items that I can't make enough of!  Reusable Coffee Filters - who knew it could be so easy to reduce & reuse?  These are made from a natural cotton/hemp material & secured with a serger so they will last for many years.  We rinse them out each day & throw them in the washer once a week.  Couldn't be easier & we never run out!  What kind of sustainable projects are you working on today?

These are a new addition to the shop - Fabric Apples to add to your pretend pantry. How cute are they..?! I will add more realistic colors - but for now, I just love the pink & green.

I just love these bags! They are a fun way to carry around snacks & a great way to reuse/recycle so you don't worry about the plastic baggies you might be wasting. There is no plastic liner in these bags - just natural eco-friendly fabric against your foods. They measure 6 3/4" w x 6 3/4" h. Dump out the crumbs & throw them in the wash when they get messy.

We use these bags to hold nuts, raisins, dried fruits, candies, crackers, fish, pretzels or trail mix (not good for sticky or wet snacks). I’ve used a 100% unbleached organic hemp/cotton blend material for the bag and a cotton fabric for the applique as well as a hook & loop closure.

Today’s project was a cute little lavender tote with a wooden button! So simple & yet so functional. It is lavender season around here - when we enjoy harvesting our budding perennial plants.  This will be the perfect size to gather the plant trimmings & keep the buds safe until we get them inside.  This tote bag is made with a fabric that will keep these special family memories alive!
